Yesterday I dropped by Other Music to see a record release show for one of my favorite new albums: Holly Miranda‘s The Magician’s Private Library (XL Recordings). The show itself was great – 8 brand new tracks (one of which didn’t make the cut for the LP) performed for about 40 people. I love intimate performances. But before that went down, I had a few minutes to grab a quick portrait of Holly. There wasn’t much to choose from (it’s a small store), so I made my own white backdrop. Holly was a great subject and I wish her the best on her current tour with Tegan & Sara. If you haven’t yet heard the record, you can stream the whole thing on her MySpace. Trust me, it’s worth the listen!
UPDATE: you can check out my live shots from the show over at Brooklyn Vegan.

Kyle I’ve loved this blog for a while, but this gets an A++++. I am so excited Holly is being “discovered” by people now.
Thanks Mercy! Glad you like these shots. I’ve liked Holly since her Jealous Girlfriends days, but it was great to hear her solo digs and get a few minutes to interact and get a portrait!
