The Antlers Sold Out Bowery Ballroom

Last Tuesday I had the pleasure of shooting my good friends The Antlers in their debut headlining gig at Bowery Ballroom. It was the first of several fun interactions with the guys over the week, and it was definitely the most powerful. Sharon Van Etten and Uninhabitable Mansions opened for The Antlers, who have placed themselves in contention not only for Album of the Year, but also Concert of the Year. Those lists will be coming in the next week or so, but for now, here are some shots from the show. Also posted on The Music Slut, I was excited to get some shots of the band where they’re more than just a couple of dark figures. It’s the first time I think I’ve ever seen light on their faces, and I was very glad to get a shot of the whole band from the balcony. The trio will head back into the studio in January to start on the follow up to Hospice, and if the new tune they played last Tuesday is any indication, it will blow you away.

The show I saw at Bowery was one un-fucking-believable! I was completely blown away. This is what a live show is supposed to be about. I love the recordings, but the show was like going to church!!!!

Agreed. If you’ll notice, it’s in the Top 10 of the year that I’m just posting. Also, if you’d like audio from the show, you can pick it up at NYC Taper.
